Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are small fly-like insects whom have a tube-like mouth part they use to pierce their hosts skin to consume their blood. In passing from host to host, some carry serious diseases & harmful infections which makes them the deadliest animal on the planet.

There are many different species of Mosquitoes and they all breed & lay their eggs in slightly different places, but those places will always be on or near water. A Mosquito will spend the first 3 stages of its life (typically 5 days) in or near that water source before emerging as blood sucking insects. Mosquito eggs can survive up to 7 years without hatching, but once they do their life span ranges from 1 week to several months.

A single Mosquito can have up to 1 billion offspring in less then a month.

One way to prevent Mosquitoes from over running a human habitat is to remove any standing water accumulations including bird baths, clogged gutters, flower pots, and children’s toys such as wagons.

Only adult female Mosquitoes are capable of biting & they prefer to feed on those with type O blood, heavy breathers, pregnant humans, & people with a lot of body heat or skin bacteria.

Male Mosquitoes are not blood suckers instead they prefer sugary fluids, which the females will consume as well.

A mosquito bite will cause redness, swelling, & itchiness. This is actually an allergic reaction to the Mosquitoes saliva. Seek medical treatment immediately if you experience a rash, fever, headache, muscle or joint pain.
